1. About this policy
This policy explains when a booking made on NearbyEscape can be cancelled and how much of the amount you paid is refunded. It applies to stays, events, experiences, tour packages and car rentals booked through our website and apps.
The applicable terms are also summarised on each listing and at checkout, so you can review them before you pay. By completing a booking, you agree to the terms that apply to it.
2. How refunds are calculated
Your refund depends on how far in advance you request the cancellation, measured from the scheduled start of your booking. All times are in Indian Standard Time (IST).
Refund percentages apply to the total amount you paid for the booking. The time of your cancellation request is the time it is received through your account or by our support team.
- Stays: measured from the check-in date and time on your booking.
- Experiences: measured from the experience start time.
- Tour packages: measured from the tour start date.
- Car rentals: measured from the pickup date and time.
3. Stays, experiences, tour packages and car rentals
The following schedule applies to stays, experiences, tour packages and car rentals:
- 7 days or more before the start: 80% of the amount paid is refunded.
- Less than 7 days, but 48 hours or more before the start: 50% of the amount paid is refunded.
- Less than 48 hours, but 24 hours or more before the start: 20% of the amount paid is refunded.
- Less than 24 hours before the start, or after it: the booking cannot be cancelled and no refund is due.
4. Events
Event tickets cannot be cancelled and are non-refundable once your booking is confirmed.
If an event is cancelled by the event manager or by NearbyEscape, you receive a full refund of the amount you paid for your tickets. You do not need to request it: we will notify you and process the refund automatically.
5. If a host, operator or NearbyEscape cancels
If a confirmed stay, experience, tour package or car rental is cancelled by the host, the operator or NearbyEscape, you receive a full refund of the amount you paid for that booking, whatever the timing.
6. No-shows and unused bookings
If you do not arrive, check in, join or collect the vehicle as booked, or you leave early, the booking is treated as used and no refund is due. Unused nights, sessions, days or tickets are not refundable.
7. How to cancel
Sign in and go to Account → Bookings, open the booking and choose Request cancellation, giving a short reason. You can also contact our support team with your booking number.
Our team reviews each request against this policy and confirms the outcome and any refund amount by email and in your account.
8. How you receive your refund
Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method. Where the option is offered, you may instead choose to receive the refund as credit in your NearbyEscape wallet. Any part of a booking paid with wallet credit is returned to your wallet.
We initiate approved refunds promptly. Depending on your bank or payment provider, the amount usually reaches your account within 5–7 business days after it is initiated.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version shown when you made your booking applies to that booking.
